OVERVIEW AND HISTORY

WHAT IS A FLOATSEA?

Floatseas [floht-sees] are amphibious, anthropomorphic creatures that resemble fluffy dragons with features of aquatic animals. They’re a unique and very social species that are centered around close-knit communities. However, because of their differences in what they view as fulfilling lifestyles, they’ve split into three different social structures: Civil, Sea Keeper, and Star Seeker.

HOW WERE THEY CREATED?

he creator made the species in high school and started off as being called Terseas [tair-sees]. They looked very similar now as they did before, but have been improved over the years. They were originally created as pets and feral creatures that lived amongst humans. City Terseas were vibrantly colored, had big neck fluff, and were about the size of a house cat. Feral Terseas had muted colors to blend into their environment, had no neck fluff that revealed their gills, and had hooves and claws that helped them climb mountains and safely jump from cliff to cliff.

ANATOMY

HEAD AND FACE

The fins on their heads, varying from 1 to 3 fins on each side, are made of cartilage and covered in fur except for the skin in between. Each fin is made of light cartilage and tightly pulled skin between the fins.Defects in development of fins are not common, but may happen. As well as deformities, webbing can tear and have scarring with injuries. Webbing does not grow back once completely damaged or removed. Cases of deformities are listed below.-Fins being larger or smaller than one another.
-Fins not developing at all on either side of the head.
-Abnormal shapes or missing webbing between fins.

BODY

Floatseas are covered in silky smooth fur, similar to seal fur. Although they all have the same overall build, each Floatsea is uniquely gifted with the features of aquatic animals they live along side.

LIMBS AND TAIL

In place of fingers, they have claws on their paws that can bend enough to hold things. What looks like a second set of outer teeth around their mouths is actually bone of a vestige covered in fur. Similar to dragons, their tongues are forked. Their strong digitigrade legs are hooved, similar to reindeer with 4 protrusions.

GENDER EXPRESSION AND SEX

Unique sex characteristics, such as breasts, are possible. However, they are mostly minor, unable to be seen.
Gender in Floatsea society is often overlooked and fluid. individuals are not occupied by other planets gender roles. Most Floatseas are androgynous, and often do not care for gender. Trans and cis identities do exist, but are a minority compared to non binary identities.

SOUL MANIFESTATION AND POWER

MANIFESTATION

Soul abilities manifests in a Floatsea around the age of 8-10. Some are late bloomers, however. Each being has its own manifestation of color and ability. Some may have tools or weapons, others may acquire healing or mind control. Occasionally some soul abilities will be considered unsavory, however they are not necessarily looked down upon. All abilities are used in positive manners in one way or another. Many Floatseas will take this as a coming of age and celebrate accordingly. Festivities are commonly held for this milestone.

CIVIL SOUL USEAGE

Common Floats use their abilities for farming, working, etc.
Royal Floats rarely ever use their abilities since they see no use in doing so. They usually see it as barbaric and useless.
The royal guard is comprised of only soul weapon users. They are typically hired, but most are an inherited position, being put there by family or other relatives.

SEA KEEPER SOUL USEAGE

Sea Keepers use their abilities to work, play, and do just about everything. They love the idea of using their abilities in day to day life. Most children will be celebrated when they reach the 'Soul Awakening' as they call it.

LANGUAGE AND ALPHABET

Common Float

Common Float is the primary language on Pazepay. Most, if not all, Floatseas are taught Common Float at an early age. Children write in a different format than adults, to make it more easily understandable.
As well as that, Common Float is written with claw stokes by the writer. Their 4 claws make up characters and translate to sounds for speech. Writing utensils are used, but it is more common to see claw writing directly.
